Thanks Louie Porras
I want to thank my dear friend Louie Porras. For people who have been in the Herp world for any period of time, I'm sure his name is very familiar. I first met Louie approximately 25 years ago. He owned Zooherp at the time. He & his family quickly became like family to me. We raised our kids together & spent many wonderful hours, pretty much daily, at Zooherp. I have many fond memories of those days. I have to ask myself, did I really transport 80 rattlesnakes in my Subaru? I drove the speed limit, that's for sure. I didn't want to explain what was in those crates to a police officer. So many unforgettable memories & stories. Louie is now amongst the elite researchers on rattlesnake field studies (his true herp passion), as well as the founder of Eagle Mountain Publishing Co. (go to my links page & check his site out). Louie has always been a great support & resource to me, with both my passion of herps & personally. Thanks Louie!
Curious George:
At present, I would like to dedicate this section to my dear George. George was an amazing Leucistic / Snow bearded dragon. I bought George as part of a package deal. I didn't need another male dragon but thought I could re-sell him. George turned out to be my favorite dragon & was destined to stay with me. He would turn & look whenever he heard my voice. He greeted me every morning with that famous "bearded wave". He was always so curious & was named after "Curious George". George loved to be wrapped up in his blanket, after his bath, and be cuddled. George became very ill & landed himself in the hospital. His condition was critical & his prognosis was extremely poor. He kept fighting for his life, despite lab values incompatible with life. The veterinarians & staff, at Dove Valley Animal Hospital, went to extraordinary lengths to support George in his struggle. They were able to reverse his liver & kidney failure. However, just as we thought George might pull through, I received the dreaded call, George had passed away during the night. His autopsy revealed he'd had a severe kidney infection. I was relieved he hadn't died of a communicable illness, since, I do have a fairly large bearded collection. But, I will never forget the special relationship I had with my curious George. George's picture is currently being used on several of my custom products. I owe a huge debt of gratitude to all the Dove Valley Animal Hospital staff, who took such great care of George & I during this difficult time. If you live in the Phoenix area & need a good vet, you'll find what you're looking for at Dove Valley Animal Hospital. You'll find their website on my links page. George had bred just prior to becoming ill and left behind 16 beautiful little legacies.
